New PPH agreements: JPO-INPI & JPO-INAPI

On March 16, 2017, the Commissioner of the Japanese Patent Office (JPO) signed agreements on Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot programmes with the National Director of the Chilean National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) and the President of the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI).

The PPH pilot programme between the JPO and the INPI will be launched on April 1, 2017. The programme between the JPO and the INAPI will start on August 1, 2017. Implementation of said programmes will allow applicants to apply for expedited examination, which will accelerate the whole registration procedure.
