Filing multiple design applications in the UAE is possible provided that all the designs are interrelated and the total number of views does not exceed twenty.

Filing requirements in the United Arab Emirates
The official language of the industrial design prosecution before the UAE Patent Office are Arabic and English.
For obtainment of the filing date, the UAE industrial design application should contain a request to grant a patent and two copies of design (if two-dimensional) or two copies of each view (if three-dimensional).
A certified copy of the Priority Document and its Arabic and English translations should be filed within 90 days from the filing date, subject to an additional fee.
An original notarized Power of Attorney must be submitted within 90 days from the filing date, subject to an additional fee. Legalization thereof is not required.
A notarized Deed of Assignment from the designer(s) to the applicant if the applicant is not the designer must be submitted within 90 days from the filing date, subject to an additional fee. Legalization thereof is not required.
If the applicant is a corporate body, a notarized certificate of incorporation or articles of association is also required to be submitted within 90 days from the filing date, subject to an additional fee. Legalization thereof is not required.
An industrial design application claiming priority should be filed within six months from the priority date.

Examination of a design application in the UAE
Industrial designs in the UAE are subject to formal examination. No substantive examination is performed on industrial designs. After a notification from the Patent Office confirming their formal acceptance of the application is issued, publication fees should be settled within a period specified in the notification (usually two months).
Disclosure of the information about the industrial design does not disprove its novelty in case the disclosure is made within 12 months before filing or priority date, if it is claimed, by the designer or by the person who directly or indirectly received this information from the designer.

Grant, validity term and design renewal fees
The grant fee for a design registration in the United Emirates is not stipulated. An industrial design in the United Arab Emirates is valid for 10 years from the filing date. Annual maintenance fees must be paid starting from the year following the filing date. Request can be made at any time on or before the due date and for any number of annuities. It is still possible to submit the request within three months from the due date at no surcharge, and within six months from the due date alongside payment of the late fee.

For foreign applicants, it is necessary to perform industrial design registration in the UAE through a registered Emirati patent attorney.
