Venezuela: Substantial increase of the official fees

Official fees for IP matters in Venezuela have been significantly increased. Said increase concerns fees for filing applications, granting, recordal of assignment and license agreements, change of name and address as well as maintenance fees for patents, utility models, trademarks and industrial designs.

For example, the official fee for recordal of patent assignment increased by almost 20 times from 787,4 Venezuelan Bolivar VEF  (approx. 125 USD ) to 15000 VEF (approx. 2386 USD).

Also, new requirement for the foreign applicants to pay the official fees in the USD equivalent was adopted.  For this purpose the exchange rate 6.3 VEF to 1 USD was settled by the government.
