  • Translation into Georgian

It is required to provide the translation of the patent specification into Georgian for validation of the European Patent in Georgia. The term for submission of the translation is three months from the date of publication of the mention of the European patent grant in the European Patent Bulletin.

  • Representation by a patent attorney

It is required for foreigners, who do not have an official address in Georgia, to perform the patent prosecution through an agent registered at the Georgian PTO.

  • Maintenance fees

Annual maintenance fees are payable for each year starting from the year following that in which mention of the grant of the European patent was published. Annuities should be paid before each anniversary of the expiration date. The patent may be restored within 6 months without any additional costs. Within the next 6 months, it may be restored provided that the official fee for restoration of the patent validity in the amount of USD 100 is paid.

  • Note

Validation for Georgia is possible for any European or international PCT application with a filing date on or after January 15, 2024. It is not available for applications filed prior to that date or for any European patents resulting from such applications.
