Detailed information related to the European Patent.
In Liechtenstein, the validation and publication of European patents are streamlined due to the country’s participation in the European Patent Convention (EPC) and the London Agreement.
A separate validation request or translation of the patent specification is not mandatory.

Representation by a patent attorney
It is not obligatory to assign a registered attorney in Liechtenstein. However, foreign applicants are required to appoint a local Liechtenstein attorney as an "Address for Service" for receiving, interpreting, and handling any communication from the Swiss Intellectual Property Office on behalf of the applicant as Liechtenstein has no its own patent office.
Upon grant by the European Patent Office (EPO), the European patent is published in the European Patent Bulletin. As Liechtenstein and Switzerland constitute a unified patent territory under the treaty between Switzerland and Liechtenstein on Patent Protection (Patent Treaty), validation in Liechtenstein is effected automatically upon validation in Switzerland. The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) then enters the patent details into the Swiss national patent register, known as Swissreg. The information is published shortly after the EPO grant publication, ensuring that newly validated patents become publicly accessible soon after the grant.
