Benelux, Serbia, Slovakia, and Romania have revised fees for IP protection

Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP) has updated fees for trademark and design protection as of January 1, 2018. The previous fee schedule was valid for 12 years – from its introduction back in 2005.  The fees have been increased by approximately 2 to 5%, e.g., basic filing fee for a trademark has been increased from 240 to 248 EUR, and for single design application from 108 to 112 EUR.

Apart from BOIP, several national Intellectual Property Offices have changed their fees for some services in respect of trademark, design or patent protection. For instance, Romanian State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM) has updated tariffs in national currency (RON), however, the equivalent fees in EUR have stayed unchanged. Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic and Serbian IPO have also slightly amended their fee schedules, which came into force on January 1, 2018 and December 25, 2017, accordingly, though the changes are rather insignificant.
