Extension of the PPH agreement between Germany and China

The bilateral PPH agreement between the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) and the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) has been prolonged for another three years, i.e. by January 22, 2021. The requirements of the patent offices for accelerating the substantive examination remain unchanged. Thus, the applicants may further use the benefits of the expedited examination and obtain patents faster and more efficiently.

The PPH pilot program between the DPMA and the SIPO started on January 23, 2012. It was already once prolonged by two years with effect from January 22, 2016. These two patent offices have been closely cooperating for many years, and extension of the agreement for an even longer period than the previous one proves this cooperation in the PPH field to be fruitful and perspective.
