Albania: Patents, EP validations - Amendments in IP legislation and fees
Certain aspects of IP legislation and official fees in Albania have been amended and entered into force on February 2, 2015.
The main changes are the following:
- official fees for patents and EP validations have been significantly increased;
- 50% reduction of the official fees for the applicant and inventor being the same person was introduced;
- 6-month grace period for late payment of the annuity may be extended for 2 additional months. In this case the annual fee will be doubled;
- 3-month term for validation of the European Patent in Albania as well as amendments of the EP patent claims may be extended for 1 month on condition that additional fee is paid.
