Morocco: new Industrial Property Law

In order to bring IP legislation in line with international standards, the Industrial Property Law in Morocco was changed (the law 23-13 amending the law 17-97) and it entered into force on January 15, 2015.
Major changes were made concerning following points:
- improvement of the invention patent system;
- consolidation of the national brand system;
- reformation of the national system of industrial designs and models;
- modernization of the filling procedure for IP types;
- re-evaluation of the patentability criteria.
Generally, amended law reinforce the national system of industrial property to provide facilities for increasing of Moroccan patents quality.
