Abstract [English] A process for preparing an aromatic polycarboxylic acid is provided. The process includes the steps of: (a) providing a first liquid stream derived from an oxidation process of an aromatic starting material having two or more C1-C6 alkyl substituents, the first liquid stream comprising nickel cations and cobalt and/or manganese cations; (b) contacting the first liquid stream with a solid-phase chelating agent, wherein the solid-phase chelating agent has a higher binding affinity for nickel cations than cobalt and/or manganese cations; (c) allowing the nickel cations to bind to the solid-phase chelating agent; (d) removing from the solid-phase chelating agent a second liquid stream comprising a higher ratio of cobalt and/or manganese cations to nickel cations than the ratio of cobalt and/or manganese cations to nickel cations contained in the first liquid stream; and (e) recycling the second liquid stream into the oxidation process of aromatic starting material. [French] L’invention concerne un procédé de préparation d’un acide polycarboxylique aromatique. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant : (a) à fournir un premier courant liquide obtenu par un procédé d’oxydation d’une matière de départ aromatique ayant deux substituants alkyle en C1-C6 ou plus, le premier courant de liquide comprenant des cations nickel et des cations cobalt et/ou manganèse ; (b) à mettre en contact le premier courant de liquide avec un agent chélatant en phase solide, l’agent chélatant en phase solide ayant une affinité de liaison pour les cations nickel plus élevée que pour les cations cobalt et/ou manganèse ; (c) à lier les cations nickel à l’agent chélatant en phase solide ; (d) à éliminer, à partir de l’agent chélatant en phase solide, un second courant de liquide comprenant un rapport cations cobalt et/ou manganèse:cations nickel plus élevé que le rapport cations cobalt et/ou manganèse:cations nickel contenu dans le premier courant de liquide ; et (e) à recycler le second courant de liquide dans le procédé d’oxydation de la matière de départ aromatique.
