Abstract

An electro-optic method and device that allows efficient poling of a ferroelectric device. The electro-optic device comprises a waveguide, barium titanate (BTO) layer adjacent to the waveguide, a heater electrode for heating the BTO layer in a vicinity of the waveguide, and at least one poling electrode near the waveguide for establishing an electric field in the BTO layer heated by the heater electrode.

Un procédé et un dispositif électro-optiques permettent une polarisation efficace d'un dispositif ferroélectrique. Le dispositif électro-optique comprend un guide d'ondes, une couche de titanate de baryum (BTO) adjacente au guide d'ondes, une électrode chauffante pour chauffer la couche BTO à proximité du guide d'ondes, et au moins une électrode de polarisation à proximité du guide d'ondes pour établir un champ électrique dans la couche BTO chauffée par l'électrode chauffante.
