Apparatus and methods are described for enhancing the tracking of sports related items using markers facilitating the identification by a tracking device of specific positions associated with these items so that the positions of the items during a striking process can be more accurately determined. For example, a system includes a tracking device tracking motion of a golf club and generating tracking data corresponding to a position of the club during a swing and a processor analyzing the data to identify a portion corresponding to a marker positioned on the club. The marker reflects a target type of radiation in a manner distinguishable from the reflection of radiation from portions of the club excluding the marker. The processor determines, based on the tracking data corresponding to the portions of the club excluding the marker and the tracking data corresponding to the marker, a three-dimensional trajectory of the club.

L'invention concerne un appareil et des procédés pour améliorer le suivi d'articles liés au sport à l'aide de marqueurs facilitant l'identification par un dispositif de suivi de positions spécifiques associées à ces articles de sorte que les positions des articles pendant un processus de frappe puissent être déterminées plus précisément. Par exemple, un système comprend un dispositif de suivi suivant le mouvement d'un club de golf et générant des données de suivi correspondant à une position du club pendant un swing et un processeur analysant les données pour identifier une partie correspondant à un marqueur positionné sur le club.
